What is AlMaghrib?
- An institute that aims to make Islamic knowledge easy and accessible for English-speaking students. The seminars take place all around the world on single or double weekends. These seminars cover a variety of topics from Tafseer (explanation of the Quran) to finding mindfulness in Salah. Students have the opportunity to attend seminars, take exams, and gain credits toward an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies.

What is Qabeelat Ruhma?
- The Seattle chapter of AlMaghrib Institute. We started hosting seminars in 2012. After being online for 3 years, we are back with in-person seminars!
How long are the seminars?
- A seminar weekend can be Friday-Saturday or Friday-Sunday. The Friday program is free to the community as a preview and the weekend is paid.
- Hours:
- Friday: 7 – 10 pm.
- Saturday and Sunday: 10 am – 7 pm with breaks throughout the day.
Where are the seminars held?
- Previous seminars were held at Kane and Alder halls at UW Seattle. The Friday programs are held at Seattle Masajids. Closer to the seminar date, we will send out the venue location by email and social media. Follow us for updates on social media (IG, FB, Twitter, & Tiktok). Register to join the mailing list!
Can I apply for financial aid and scholarships?
- Yes! Don’t let finances prevent you from attending our seminars. We have Family Discounts, Financial aid, and scholarships! Find more information here.
Is childcare available?
- Close to the time of the seminar, we will distribute a form to check if people are interested in childcare. After that, we will inform everyone through email and social media about the availability of childcare.
Will class notebooks be printed?
- We will have a limited amount of notebooks available for purchase. If you would like a physical copy, arrive early and pay with cash or electronic payment methods like Cash App, Venmo, or Zelle. Alternatively, we suggest viewing the PDF version on your electronic device and/or bringing your own paper and writing materials.
Why are exams fard (obligatory)?
- The best way to retain your knowledge is to study and take an exam on what you learn. Since we’re learning the most important knowledge in the world, Islamic knowledge, it’s super important that you take an exam on our seminar material.
How do I get updates on review sessions and exam dates?
- If you registered for a seminar, you will receive an invite link to the class Telegram group in an email. You can stay connected to other students in this group chat. For dates regarding the exam or review sessions, we will contact you through email and send a message on Telegram.
Can my 11 yr old attend the seminars?
- Our seminars are appropriate for children ages 12 and above. If there are any exceptions to this age requirement, we will notify students through email and social media.
How do I volunteer for AlMaghrib?
